There are over 50,000 businesses in East Kent of different sizes and abilities.
Most don’t have business plans, or strategic objectives. Many don’t have an efficient operating environment or the right management information to manage the business going forward. Most don’t have succession or recovery plans should the business be impacted by major departures or failures.
For most of us, such considerations seem pie in the sky. We are time poor and the key business priority tends to be getting through the week and keeping our heads above water.
That’s the wrong attitude to Jonathan Marsh of Faversham. After more than 30 years as an auditor of companies in a variety of industries and as a director and chief operating officer for a number of investment banks in Asia and the City of London, Jonathan now spends his time carrying out health checks for companies.
“I suggest solutions that are focused on causes of weakness, not the effects,” says Jonathan. “I ensure that there are clear action plans to move the business forward; I’m not one for producing findings and walking away. There needs to be a clearly defined way forward.”
